A logical decision on half rent soon: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that a logical decision will be taken soon regarding half fare for students in public transport.
He said this while addressing the bi-annual general meeting and council session of the association at the seminar hall of the Engineering Institute in the capital on Thursday.
The program started at 10 am with recitation of Holy Quran, national anthem and condolence message. Later the departmental representatives of the organization gave speeches.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader attended the meeting at noon. Speaking as the chief guest, he demanded fixing of half fare for students and said that a logical decision would be taken in this regard.
The minister said a meeting would be held today at the head office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). It will be attended by senior government officials. Hopefully, a logical decision will come from the meeting. Besides, I hope the concerned BRTA officials will sit down with the bus owners on Saturday and take a logical decision in this regard.
"We are thinking of introducing half fare for students on Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) buses," he said. I would like to seek the cooperation of those concerned regarding the introduction of half fare for students not only in government buses but also in private buses.
Representatives of 130 units of the organization took part in it. The meeting was attended by all the officers of the executive council of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association and councilors including the presidents and general secretaries of all the districts, branches / units across the country.
